Silk Kilims
Iran’s silk kilims usually come from the northwest Turkish-speaking Azerbaijan region, from a lush green, picture-perfect area called Dasht-e Moghan, not far from the ancient city of Ardabīl.
Baby-soft silk is usually embroidered suzani style over a fine wool or silk base on a vertical frame. There are a variety of designs, including shamloo, kheshti, kaf-saadeh, haris and booteh-jagheh.
These are intricate, purely decorative works of art (as wall decor) to be cherished as family heirlooms and investments that can only grow in value.
